"Stick Your Neck Out to Get Ahead"
As I read the account in Esther (Chapters 4 & 5) of how she fasted and prayed before she went in to King Ahasuerus, and she knew she could have been beheaded had he not held out his golden scepter to pardon her for approaching without invitation, I thought...
That was a LOSE/LOSE situation!
Let me explain. To go in to the king without his summoning her, she risked having her head chopped off. If God was not with her protecting her, she was dead. However, look at the alternatives. If she DID NOT go to plead with the king to revoke the edict for all the Jewish race to be annihilated, she would die anyway because she was a Jew! BUT, if she disobeyed God, her soul was in jeopardy! Can you imagine being in THAT "rock and hard place?"
I can almost hear Esther's thoughts... "If I don't go, I'm certainly dead. But, if I go without being summoned and not pardoned, I'm dead. Then, on the other hand, if I don't obey God, I'm in worse trouble. BUT, if I go in faith WITH GOD ON MY SIDE, I and all the Jewish race will possibly live. Guess I am going to have to stick my neck out in this predicament, and whatever will be, will be!" Esther, as you know, went before the king, he pardoned her, wicked Haman's scheme was exposed and the Jewish race survived. It's best to do what God has asked you to do NO MATTER WHAT the consequences might appear to be. It's better to obey God than man.
"Don't be afraid of those who can kill only your bodies--but can't touch your souls! Fear only God who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
Matthew 10:28
Selah....Pause and think about that for a moment!
