Seed for the Soul
"While
the earth remaineth,
Seedtime and harvest
....shall not cease"
Genesis
8:22
I Loves Ya, Babe!
I have this four month old Shih-Tzu puppy that I am trying to teach to say, "I love you." I put her face up to mine and repeat, "I love you, Lady." She'll howl and do her best to screech out, "I love you, too!" in the way I'm desiring for her to. I'm sure she knows what I am telling her when I hold her face close to mine because she always licks my face, neck and nose. For you see, licking her master is HER way of showing affection and saying, "I love you." I'd never dream of licking her in return!
We all have our own ways to express love, and just because we might be unfamiliar with another's way, it doesn't mean that they don't love us. God expressed His love without speaking a Word...He sent the Word, Jesus Christ. Yet, He knows that we also need to have it spoken to us and have it available to read...that's why He gave us His written "love letters" (the Bible) and prayer, to tell us personally of His love.
I John 4:9,10 (emphasis mine)
"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. THIS IS LOVE: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
I'm not the type that would respond to, "I loves ya, Babe!" I'd prefer to hear something like, "You mean more to me than you will ever know!" You may desire love showed to you in actions and deeds; another may prefer dedication and devotion. Whatever your preference, don't turn love away, like the heathen have turned God away, because love is not express in your preferred way!
There is nothing quite as perplexing as to have your love misunderstood or not understood at all. Jesus felt this pain, too.
John 8:43-47 LB (portions of)
Why can't you understand what I am saying?.... (answer) --you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does.....so when I tell the truth, you just naturally don't believe it! .....Anyone whose Father is God listens gladly to the words of God. Since you don't, it proves you aren't his children."
I John 3:10,11 LB
"... Whoever is living a life of sin and doesn't love his brother shows that he is not in God's family; for the message to us from the beginning has been that we should love one another."
Many marriages suffer because we don't acknowledge or we reject the love that is expressed. No matter how love comes to you, accept it...don't make the mistake of rejecting love from others (or His love) because it is not expressed exactly as you think it should be.
Se'lah...pause and think about THAT!
I loves y'all,
Marlene
