Balancing Our Buckets. . .

If you feel weary and loaded down with worry and burdens, it could be that your "yoke" is off balance.

The "YOKE" spoken about in Matthew 11:28-30, is NOT the animal type like it is so often typified. It is the "pair of balances" like we often see used in the Orient. I'm convinced that Jesus considered the group of people trying to live the law without balancing it with His love and grace, when He said these words...

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."Matthew 11:28-30

Can you just imagine how difficult it would be to carry this type of yoke on your shoulders with only one side full? It would be exasperating as well as wearisome and tiring. Not one person has ever been able to live the old testament "law" without sinning except for Jesus. So until we truly "learn of Him"...that is...learn of the forgiveness, love and grace He came to "balance those buckets" with, then living a righteous life is impossible.

Jesus came to fulfill the law...and He's shown us how to do it, too... Here's the "bucket full" that we need to live a balanced life in Him:

Mark 12:33 NIV

To love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Loving Him with our ALL totally annihilates wearisome worry, for then we know that He has it all under control, and we will be able to stop our stressful striving, and will come into His rest. What is it that you are loving more than Him and your neighbor? "Come unto Me," Jesus has said, and take His light burden upon you, and He WILL give you rest.

Se'lah...just pause and think about that!

Loving you in Him,

Marlene
