Seed for the Soul
"While
the earth remaineth,
Seedtime and harvest
....shall not cease"
Genesis
8:22
How do you KNOW God Talks to You?
How do I know God talks to me?
This is often asked me...and usually a person will want to know how I know that it is God and not the devil talking to me.
I KNOW that God talks to me because He has said that His sheep hear His voice. I know that I am His sheep, that I follow Him, that He will take care of me, and I can rest in that.
John 10:27-29LB (Jesus said this)
My sheep recognize my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one shall snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else, so no one can kidnap them from me.
God's voice comes in several ways...He is able to talk to me through others... what they say will bear witness in my heart. Circumstances often show me that God is saying either, do this, or don't do that. However, the Word is the way that He speaks to me most often.
It is possible for the devil to quote the Word...we saw him do that to Jesus Himself after Jesus had fasted for forty days in the wilderness. When the devil tries to use a scripture of God to trick us, it will not line up with the remainder of His word. For example...when he told Jesus to turn the stones into bread and Jesus refuted him by saying, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Matt. 4:4) Jesus was saying more than, no, I'm not going to do what would please me right now, but I believe He was saying to take into account THE ENTIRETY OF GOD'S WORD when you are trying to discern who is speaking to you and what the truth really is. What Satan had told Jesus to do, to turn the stones into bread, did not bear witness in Jesus' spirit because immediately another Scripture to the contrary entered Jesus' heart.
Just last week I asked God what His main desire was for me to do at this time. He spoke to me. I know I heard Him because He spoke to me from His Word, there is nothing in the Word contrary to what He has said, and circumstances have made it possible. In addition...the devil would NEVER tell me to do this...haha.
My Shepherd said...
Ecclesiastes 11:6
Keep on sowing your seed, for you never know which will row--perhaps it all will.
Se'lah! Just pause and think about that.
Planted and rooted in Him,
