Genesis 8:22

"ENOUGH!"

Envision this scenario:

A man has contracted a debilitating, incurable illness which has resulted in his losing his job, and many possessions, including his vehicles. He and his wife are thankful that they still have their home, however. Then a tornado strikes and totally demolishes their last precious possession. After the storm subsides they survive and are sitting on the steps of the remains of their totally battered home. He looks at her in despair and says, "I am such a failure. I wanted to give you so much, and now we have nothing."

You might think that in the midst of all of this calamity they would cry out, "ENOUGH!" We've had enough already! But rather than saying that, his wife looks compassionately into his eyes and says, "You didn't bring the illness upon yourself, nor the loss of your job and our possessions, and you certainly didn't bring this storm that destroyed our home. You have not failed... You have done all that you could do." She gently snuggles into his arms and continues, "I didn't marry you for what you could do for me or give me. I married you because I love you, and as long as we have each other, that's all that matters." With tears forming in his eyes, he painfully swallows and manages to choke out, "If that is all that matters, then I am  the most fortunate of men, all of this loss has opened my eyes to what is really important...having you and knowing that you will be by my side no matter what we endure! And we will have each other for the rest of our lives, for my love could never be any greater for you than it is right now."

Romans 8:31

If God be for us, who can be against us?

The verses surrounding this verse tell us that nothing can keep us from  the love of Christ...not trouble, calamity, not being hunted down or destroyed, nor could hunger or being penniless, or even being threatened with death...none of these things mean that God has deserted us...none of this means that He does not love us... You know why? We are told that we are like sheep awaiting slaughter...yes, Satan and his principalities and powers can come against us in the natural realm, but despite any distraction, we can have overwhelming victory in Christ who loved us enough to die for us!

(Romans 8:36-39)

Nothing can take away what has ALREADY BEEN DONE! Jesus has ALREADY loved us so much that He died for us to prove it! His love was completed at the cross and it continues as He sits at the right hand of the Father praying for us.

Romans 8:38-39

"...Nothing can EVER separate us from His love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels won't, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God's love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are--high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean--nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when He died for us."

Jesus is waiting, like that husband, waiting for us to look up into His eyes and say, "You have not caused all of this that has happened to me...You have not failed me. I didn't marry you for what you could do for me or give me. I accepted You into my heart and became you're bride because I love You, because I want to be with You for eternity, and as long as we have each other, that's all that matters."

Philippians 3:8

"I have put aside all else, counting it worth less than nothing, in order that I can have Christ, and become one with Him...."

Philippians 3:10

"Now I have given up everything else---I have found it to be the only way to really know Christ and to experience the mighty power that brought Him back to life again, and to find out what it means to suffer and to die with Him."

Hebrews 13:5 NLB

"Let your conduct be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor  forsake you.'"

Intimately knowing Christ is enough...I need no more.

Selah! Stop and think about it!
