Good and Not Evil!

What a wonderful day I was going to have! My husband covered me with prayers before leaving for work...we committed our work, our lives, our coming and goings and our day to the Lord! We prayed for His angels to have charge over us to keep us in ALL OUR WAYS...I felt so blessed and full of joy... THEN.....

Out on the six lane loop, as I was keeping up with the traffic (on my way to the Bible Book Store to buy a bible for a friend) I noticed a motorcycle policemen, in hot pursuit of some lawbreaking citizen, behind me. With red lights flashing and his siren shrieking, I pulled over to get out of his way...and, guess what? He pulled in right behind me!

Oh, man! I was wearing my contacts and not my driving glasses, but HOW could he have known that?... I was guilty and just sat there and didn't try to fumble through my purse to get my glasses out. I expected a ticket for that. Then the perfect specimen of a policeman informed me that I went 53 MPH through the 30 MPH SCHOOL ZONE! I had seen no flashing light, I was just keeping up with the traffic, why was I chosen out of the ten others that sped through the zone? Me, lover and protector of all of God's Kid Kingdom... Me, who would fight to the death for any kids' cause! Me...who had not had a ticket since I was 21 years old, and had, up to this point, only one ticket in my entire life!!! The officer gave me a speeding ticket, but, he didn't even notice that I didn't have my driving glasses on.

What was that beautiful verse I had meditated on earlier that day?

Jeremiah 29:11 (Emphasis mine)

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Prosper! Yeah, right! That ticket was going to cost a pretty bundle! I hate wasting money like that...and I wasn't looking forward to telling my husband what I had done. However, when I did finally tell him he said, "GREAT, WONDERFUL!...You can take the Drivers Training Course and have the ticket dismissed, and I'll take it with you. We've been needing to do that for a long time. We'll get a 10% discount on our insurance after we take the course. That will mean we'll get about a $50 refund for this year, and a $100 discount every year thereafter. We'd never have taken the time and effort to do that unless this happened."

So often we only see the IMMEDIATE CIRCUMSTANCES in the Lord's handling of our lives and we jump to conclusions without  knowing what His overall plan for us is. And too often, we sell Him short. He has told  us that His plans for us are to prosper us, not harm us...to do good and not evil...to give us hope and a future... I'm asking myself, "When you gonna start believing Him?" Selah!
