It's Impossible???
When we were asked to take a church position here in East Texas sixteen years ago, I told the Lord that if we were to move, I'd sure like to own a home again. I sort of reminded Him of all the homes I had previously given up for the ministry...but to buy a home was IMPOSSIBLE! We didn't have established credit any longer, and we didn't have a down payment, nor did we have any money to move across country with and have the utilities turned on. One hour after I asked the Lord to provide a home with no down payment and moving expenses provided, we bought the country home close to the church that I had pointed out to Him, and we are still living in it...a home far beyond our means at the time. We paid no down payment and all moving and utility expenses were provided. How could that possibly happen?
Matthew 19:26 (Emphasis mine)
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men, this is IMPOSSIBLE; but with God all things are POSSIBLE.
In the context of this verse they were discussing how impossible it was for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. He told them that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven. Does that mean that there will be no people who were rich on earth in heaven?... No! But there will be no rich men in heaven WITHOUT GOD, none that trusted in themselves and their wealth, instead of trusting in God.
God makes ALL THINGS POSSIBLE that are within His will. It was His will for us to move to Texas, and He went before us to the bank and the seller and worked it out for us to purchase our home, through manifold miracles.
In buying our home, the bank made it possible by having on hand the required amount of money, that they had negotiated through someone else, to pay the seller on our behalf. However, we were the happy recipients of what they MADE POSSIBLE. In a similar manner, God makes possible everything that we need, through His negotiations with Jesus, who died and suffered to give us right standing with our Heavenly Father, and it is through Christ that God guarantees us certain things in this life.
We were absolutely NOT QUALIFIED to buy a home, just as we are NOT QUALIFIED to receive the blessings of God on our own merits. Without God's grace there for us to purchase a home, it would not have happened, and so it is, without the grace, the unmerited favor of God through Christ Jesus, none of us would have ever been delivered from our sins...nor would we be healed or set free from bondage. Jesus paid the price for it all! God made it possible through His Son. It was through the bank that we were able to purchase a home. It is THROUGH CHRIST JESUS that we obtain the promises of God.
Romans 8:37 (Emphasis mine)
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors THROUGH Him that loved us.
Think of the improbability of Abraham and Sarah bearing a child in their old age...Abraham 100, Sarah 90. But, look at this other IMPOSSIBILITY in Abraham's life. After Sarah died, Abraham was 137 years old and he married Keturah, his concubine. Keturah bore him SIX MORE SONS...If they had one child per year, Abraham would have been well over 140 years old when the last child was conceived! It's impossible! With man, but not with God!
Do you have something that you need that seems the size of a camel, and you feel like you have the faith about the size of the eye of a needle? Stop struggling with it, because "God's promises" never happen in man's own efforts; they will be impossible, but, with faith in God, and what Christ has accomplished for us, all things are POSSIBLE! I cannot emphasize that enough.
Isaiah 53:5, 6b
He was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was chastised the we might have peace; He was lashed--and we were healed! God laid on Him the guilt and sins of every one of us!
Now that my credit has been established with the bank through the Lord, I have faith that if I stay in "good standing" with my banker, I will be able to acquire more things. We must have faith in Jesus Christ that He has placed us in "good standing" with God Almighty, and that we can thereby freely go to Him to receive His promises.
I John 5:14,15
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know the He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
