Broken Promises...

One time an oil "tycoon" that was a deacon of a church I worked at in Oklahoma asked me to pray that he'd strike oil. He was anticipating going bankrupt because his last venture had been costly and unfruitful. He called me in desperation and asked me to pray and seek the Lord on his behalf that he'd strike oil. I told him I'd be happy to, and I kept my promise. Before he hung the phone up, he said, "Marlene, if I strike oil this time, I am going to give you ten percent of the profit!" I told him that wasn't necessary, that God didn't charge for His prayers, and I tried to laugh it off. He INSISTED, however, that ten percent would be mine if he struck oil. I soon left that church and some months later found out what happened to him.

Since I still live on faith today, I guess you might be able to guess the "rest of this story!" Yes, he hit the BIGGEST oil strike ever struck in the state of Oklahoma's history...and NO, I never heard from him again! And, yes, he knew where to find me... Haha!

There is a promise that I hold on to daily; I have it typed out and posted up over my desk. It has never been broken. It is not a lie, given to me by some desperate man who will change his mind or forget that he said it. I can attest to the fact that it is TRUE. This promise has been fulfilled over and over on a DAILY basis in my life! The Lord said these things to me:

Luke 12:30,31 LB (Emphasis mine)

"All mankind scratches for its daily bread, but your heavenly Father knows your needs. He will always give you all you need from day to day if you will make the Kingdom of God your primary concern."

Numbers 23:19

"God is not a man, that he should lie, Nor the son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?"

Yes, man in his zeal might make promises to us and not fulfill them, but God never, never will. You can trust Him to be a Man of His Word!

Selah! Stop and consider that thought for a moment.
