Heart Trouble!

When we hear the words:

High cholesterol and high triglycerides...

Obesity...

Lack of exercise...

Stress and overwork...

We usually immediately think... "Prime candidate for a heart attack!"

This morning as I was meditating on several Bible verses, the Lord showed me some trigger words to help us identify why and when we become "prime candidates" for a spiritual "heart attack"...

Jesus has promised us peace..."My peace I leave with you!" Yet, so  much of our time is spent in turmoil and unrest. The primary reasons are found in these verses:

John 14:1 NIV

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

John 14:27 NIV

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Do not "let" your hearts be troubled..."Let" means to decide...to allowor not allow. He is saying to not allow, or permit our hearts to betroubled...and then He very clearly tells us HOW to stop permittingour hearts to be troubled...

DECIDE to...

Trust in God...trust also in me...(Jesus)

When we are not, in our spirit, trusting in God and Jesus, it is just like allowing our physical body to have a cholesterol count of over 400 and doing nothing to bring about a change...we are setting ourselves up for "heart trouble."

Robbers can come to our doors, but we don't have to fling them openwide and invite them in and entertain them, permitting them access to rob us, do we? We put dead bolt locks on our doors to prevent their entrance, install security systems to warn us, and

so forth. Yet, the devil comes to rob, kill and destroy our peace and joy when he places doubt and fear in our minds, and most often, we "entertain" those thoughts. We "let" him (permit him to) do it to us over and over.

How do we prevent this? Simply by what these verses tell us:

T-R-U-S-T God!

T-R-U-S-T Jesus!

Do NOT be afraid!

The next time that you feel pressure in your spiritual heart and life, signifying that heart trouble is on the way...lock the door on your heart, do not allow the doubt and fear to enter...RESIST. Remember what His Word, the TRUTH, promises. T-R-U-S-T Him for it...do not be afraid, and the calm peace of God will be the result.

James 4:7

Therefore, submit yourself unto God; resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
