We Exalt Thee, O Lord

Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bushel. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to  everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light  shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

We Exalt Thee, O' Lord!

An interesting thing about putting a "light" under a bushel is that the word "bushel" is translated in part as, "the utensil"... To put the light of the Lord,  for without Him, we have no light at all in us, would  be to allow the "good works" that He desires to do in and through us, to be placed UNDER the utensil, which  is "the vessel". In other words, this would mean that we have allowed our old fleshly nature, OUR PRIDE,  ARROGANCE, and unbridled zeal, to block out the light of the Lord. When this happens, all attention is focused on us, the "utensil," because we are covering over Christ,  The Light, and blocking out His image.

Many can be hurt when walking in this kind of darkness. Pride comes before destruction...and the destruction is not only to the person full of pride, but it reaches out, goes "before" to destroy all within its path. Therefore, let us humble ourselves before the Lord and in due season He will exalt us...we don't need to do it ourselves. Let the focus be on Him, exalt Him and not ourselves, for He is the One that is worthy! Amen!
